With the COVID-19 pandemic prompting changes to regulations and emerging antimicrobial resistant organisms, staying current is a huge challenge infection preventionists face. LeadingAge Connecticut and LeadingAge Iowa recognize these challenges and are offering a webinar to help infection preventionists refresh the antibiotic stewardship program in their community. Research from the CDC indicates that 40%-75% of antibiotics prescribed in nursing homes may be unnecessary or inappropriate. Antibiotic stewardship aims to improve the treatment of infections while minimizing the side effects and adverse outcomes associated with antibiotic use. This webinar invites you to explore the Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship and discover evidence-based strategies to enhance your program. The webinar will be interactive as we go through an antibiotic stewardship checklist as well as other content and case studies. Describe the core elements of antibiotic stewardship for nursing homes.
