A Deep Dive Into Federal Regulations

Over the course of 12 monthly sessions, this series will provide a deep dive into learning about the federal regulations for long term care facilities. Actual citation examples, strategies for successfully managing the survey process and understanding the critical element pathways used to guide surveyor investigations and implementing survey preparedness activities to prevent citations will be provided and discussed.

OCTOBER 10 - §483.50 Laboratory Radiology and Other Diagnostic Services

Course Description:
This session will provide an overview of the Laboratory Radiology and Other Diagnostic Services at §483.50 & Dental Services regulations at §483.55, with an emphasis on the review the most commonly cited requirements in these areas. Strategies to avoid citations related to Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services will be emphasized through discussion of: Actual citation examples, Strategies for successfully managing the survey process & understanding the critical element pathways used to guide surveyor investigations, & implementing survey preparedness activities to prevent Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services citations.

Projected Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives: At the conclusion of each session, the learner will:
1. Identify the regulatory requirements related to Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services
2. Identify survey procedures that describe how Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services requirements are reviewed for compliance during the annual survey process
3. Identify examples of how Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services requirements are commonly cited in the long-term care survey process
4. Explain strategies for incorporating survey preparedness related to Laboratory, Radiology, Other Diagnostic, and Dental Services into facility QAPI processes
